Why Some Viruses Have No Cure

2 min read

A virus is a genetic material made up of either DNA (dinoribonucleic acid) or RNA (ribonucleic acid) enclosed in a protective coat usually proteinuous in nature. A virus is seen not to survive on its own that’s why it is seen to take a crystalline form outside its host and becomes a non-livingthing.

A virus

Viruses are seen to survive in their host by a process called replication. This replication process helps the virus multiply themselves in every cell of the host.

Why there can’t be cured

Virus unlike bacteria do not have cell wall or nucleus, they have the ability to rapidly change their DNA to ensure survival, that’s why it is seen year in year out that we experience cold and catarrh. Why there can’t be cured is cause there are not alive instead they depend on their host for their survival. Normally drugs that cure illnesses do so by attacking the illness without any harm done to the patient but for the case of a virus, it is seen that any such drug would harm the patience cause its ability to live depends on the host. Another reason is that viruses unlike bacteria are not related to each other.

Another reason is that drug companies usually produce drugs that could be used to treat a variety of illness e.g. Paracetamol can be used to treat headache, back ache and so on, also these drugs are sold quickly. The reason for this behaviour is because having different drugs for different illness would make no sense as these drugs would have to be sold one at a time. Notwithstanding there are still researches and experiments going on.

Finally since major illnesses are caused by virus it is best to practice the preventive measures so as not to get infected by them. Make sure to keep your environments clean and maintain a healthy lifestyle remember health is wealth.
