Joseph Akinfenwa Donus popularly known as Joeboy was born on the 21st of May, 1997 in Lagos State Nigeria.
Education
After completing his primary and secondary education. Joeboy gained admission into the University of Lagos (UNILAG) where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management.
Music Career and Rise to Fame
Joeboy grew up in a music family, his older brother was in the choir and his Dad was a keyboardist in church. Joeboy started singing at the age of 16 and recorded his first song titled “Gbeseyin” at the age of 17.
According to Joeboy he got his inspiration from the likes of 9ice and ID Cabasa, whom he used to hang out with in the studio. Joeboy did a cover of Ed Sheeran “Shape of You” which was well received in Nigeria and the world.
This cover of Ed Sheeran song “Shape of You” brought him to limelight which made one of Nigeria’s top musician “Mr Eazi” to discover this young talent and also offer him provisional mentorship. Joeboy is currently signed to Mr Eazi’s Banku Music Record label and to Gorilla Sauce Entertainment.
