Kentrell DeSean Gaulden born October 20, 1999, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the United States popularly known as YoungBoy Never Broke or as NBA YoungBoy or simply YoungBoy is an American singer, songwriter and rapper.
Because his father was sentenced to 55 years in prison, Gaulden was mostly brought up by his maternal grandmother. He was arrested for robbery and sent to a correctional institution in Tallulah, Louisiana, after dropping out of high school in the ninth grade. He started writing lyrics for his first album when he was there.
Gaulden’s grandmother died of heart failure after he was freed from the jail camp, so he moved in with NBA 3Three, a fellow Baton Rouge rapper (also known as OG 3Three). The two then began to pay for studio time by committing criminal crimes.

Gaulden began producing music when he was fourteen years old, using a microphone he purchased from Walmart. In 2015, he dropped his first mixtape, Life Before Fame, Mind of a Menace, Mind of a Menace 2, and Before I Go were among the mixtapes that followed.

Controversy
Gaulden was arrested in November 2016 in Austin, Texas, on accusations of attempted first-degree murder in connection with a robbery. After accepting a plea deal and posting bail, Gaulden was released from prison in May 2017.

Gaulden’s life has been riddled with legal troubles as a result of his numerous arrests and legal warrants. Gaulden was detained on March 22, 2021, by federal investigators who were carrying out a federal warrant. Officers attempted to serve the warrant by stopping a vehicle with Gaulden inside, but Gaulden fled on foot. Gaulden was apprehended and arrested on federal criminal charges after a search that included the use of a K9. He was released from jail on a $1.5 million bond on October 26, 2021.
