Shaboozey was born on May 9, 1995, to Nigerian parents in Fairfax, Northern Virginia, United States of America. His real name is Collins Obinna Chibueze and as of 2021, he is 26 years old. He holds an American nationality and belongs to Black ethnicity.
Talking about his education, his parents sent him to Nigeria in junior high for boarding school. During his schooling days in Nigeria, he learned about his cultural heritage and also developed a sense of rhythm. After he finished boarding school in Nigeria he went back to the States and completed his education at Gar-field High School in Woodbridge, VA.
Career
Shaboozey developed an interest in music when he was in boarding school in Nigeria. When he went back to the U.S. he started making music inspired by the likes of Roger Waters, Fela Kuti, the Clipse, Led Zeppelin, and Backstreet Boys.
In 2017 his songs such as “Robert Plant” and “Starrfoxx” attracted the attention of Republic Records which he is now signed to. The following year (2018) after his signing he released his songs “Winning Streak” and “Break the Band (How Could She?)”. He also released his debut album “Lady Wrangler” that same year on October 5.
In 2018, Shaboozey was featured on the 2018 film soundtrack Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse. His song was titled “Start a Riot” and he worked with Duckwrth on this song. So far this song has accumulated over 85 million-plus streams on Spotify.
