About University of Alberta Scholarships
These scholarships are available at different levels and each scholarship has its own requirements and validity. For admission based scholarships to the University, applications are not required rather evaluations would be done when you apply for admission.
Some of the admission based scholarships are outlined below:
International Admission Scholarship: This scholarship allows students to receive up to $5,000 CAD depending on the admission average.
Regional Excellence Scholarship: This scholarship allows top students from regions to receive up to $5,000 CAD based on the admission average.
The Gold Standard Scholarship: This scholarship allows the top 5% of students in each faculty to receive up to $6,000 depending on the admission average.

President’s International Distinction Scholarship
This scholarship is for Students with a superior admission average and demonstrated leadership qualities entering their first year of an undergraduate degree on a Student Visa Permit who could receive up to $120,000 CAD that is payable over 4 years.
International Leader Scholarship
This scholarship is for well-rounded scholarships with superior academics and beneficiaries can receive up to $10,000.
May Quon Undergraduate Scholarship
May Quon Undergraduate Scholarship is for undergraduates with a superior admission average and self-declared financial need entering their first year of an undergraduate degree o a student visa. Only those from Chinese or Hong Kong can receive up to $100,000.
University of Alberta Global Citizen Scholarship for IB Diploma International Students
To be eligible for this scholarship, students must meet the following requirements:
- Students must have superior academics
- Must have strong International Baccalaureate Diploma academic standing
- Must have indicated the financial need and strong leadership
- Would be entering their first year of an undergraduate degree program from Aga Khan Academies operating under the AKA agency of the Aga Khan Development Network
- Would be studying in Canada on a Student Visa Permit
Scholarship Value: Can receive up to $53,000 per annum for a maximum period of four years.
This scholarship is for those that are interested in transferring from their current University to the University of Alberta. To be eligible, you must have applied to an undergraduate degree program.
